40 Days To Purpose | Day 14

Esau and Jacob 👬were the twin sons of Rebecca. Esau came out of the womb first, making him the first born. As they grew up, Esau chose hunting 🦌and agriculture🌾🌾 while Jacob preferred the breeding and tending of animals🐐🐏🐄. This meant that Jacob was usually in or around the house while Esau was ususally out in the wild.

One day, Esau returned from the day’s work starving🥵. He met Jacob with a freshly made hot pot of pottage (Beans🥘). He quickly requested for some. And this is where all the drama started.

Jacob requested for Esau’s birthright 📝in return. And Esau, being a person who neither understood nor valued spiritual things, sold it to him without thinking twice.

🧐It surprises me that Jacob did not waste any time to ask for Esau’s birthright. He clearly had his eyes👀 on it already and was just looking for the slightest opportunity to get it. And he, knowing that his brother did not even value it in the first place only made it all seem more attainable.

Now, lets backtrack🏃🏽‍♀️ a little. What is in a birthright?🤷‍♀️ I mean, as Esau put it, “What good is my birthright?”

The Advantage of the Birthright

In ancient middle Eastern tradition, the firstborn is the head of the family, and has charge of the family, including the family property. He is responsible for the welfare of the younger sons, the widow, and any unmarried daughters. He can exercise considerable authority over the other members of the family.

Was Jacob satisfied with the birthright alone? NO! He wanted more!!!

So when Isaac was about to die, he told Esau to go and hunt for fresh meat and prepare his favorite meal and afterwards come to receive his blessing.

LEsau did not recognise the urgency of the situation and went off to hunt. I believe nothing stopped him from pleading 🙏with his Father to bless him first since he could die any second. After taking the blessing, he could go and hunt, right?🤷‍♀️

But once again, it was Jacob who understood the significance and urgency of the situation and quickly took a hold of it. Jacob deceitfully disgused himself as Esau 👺and collected every single blessing that Isaac had to give.

Again, What’s in a Blessing?🤷‍♀️

The Benefit of the Blessing

During the Patriarchal period when Jacob and Esau lived, God dealt directly with the heads of the families. The Hebrews counted the blessing given by the father to be very important and considered it an oral contract, which was just as binding as a written contract today. The blessing Jacob received would place him in a special covenant relationship with the Lord.

Now, note that this is not in anyway saying you have to go about the things of God deceitfully. Jacob eventually paid for his crimes.

What I am trying to point out from this story is how that Jacob was so ‘spiritually’ minded while Esau was only about satisfying his flesh.

As one who has a divine calling, you must learn to deny the flesh. It is not every kind of food 🍱you must eat. It is not even every day you must eat three square meals. How often do you fast🍽️? It is not every night you must sleep 😴complete 6-8 hours. How often do you wake up at night to just pray🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️ and hear God clearly in the stillness and quietness of the night? It is not every TV 📺show or movie you can watch. It is not even kind of song 🎶🎵you can listen to.

I have never seen or heard 👂or read about anyone who became someone great for God that woke up anytime they liked, ate anything they liked, prayed anytime they felt like and did anything they simply felt like doing. It just doesn’t work that way. Even to become someone great for the world/devil, you must make huge sacrifices. 😁Look at what native doctors do to get power na.

Hmm, may God give us understanding in Jesus name.

1. Draw up a daily spiritual To-Do list. These are spiritual activities you want to engage in unfailingly everyday by yourself. This includes your personal quiet time with God.

2. Pray that God should deepen your hunger and thirst for his presence

3. Determine this year, to spend more time with brethren that fire you up for God. The 3 Hebrew children stuck together in Babylon for a reason.

May God help us to be His dear children who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, in Jesus name. I pray that He will make us fit vessels through which He can shine His glory thoughout the world, in Jesus name, Amen.

Love you 😍

40 Days To Purpose | Day 13

Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah. Elkanah loved Hannah so much but she had no children😔
Peninnah on the other hand had children.

Peninnah decided to position herself as an adversary to Hannah because of her barren situation. Having children in those days was a thing of societal status and a means of survival when they are grown. The children have source of income to take care of their parents when they become old.

It was even recorded in the Bible that the Lord shut up her womb 1Sam 1:5
Sister what situation are you in at the moment?
Are you sure the Lord is not aware?
Do you want me some think it’s a means of punishment or the Lord only wants you to push harder in the place of communing with Him
I mean in the place of prayer and supplication?

Peninnah was in the business of provoking, humiliating and mocking Hannah because of this situation of hers. Hannah never responded or reacted to her. The truth is that as we journey on to destiny there will be some trying moments but when he way you handle and react to them determines if you will pull through to destiny or not.

During this trying times, oppositions, mockery and humiliation will come just as we can see in the life of Hannah. But I tell you, it is not a time to concentrate on those oppositions, it is a time to draw closer to God.

Elkanah’s family usually visit Shiloh to worship and to make sacrifices and offerings to God. His family did this yearly. 1Sam1:3
This particular year as the family’s practice was after he had offered sacrifices to God, he gave portions that is gifts to Peninnah and her children. But to Hannah he gave a worthy gift because he loved her.

Peninnah saw this and became jealous as usual and started humiliating and frustrating Hannah of her barrenness.
Hannah wept and couldn’t eat.
She became bitter in her soul and told her sorrows to God 1Sam 1:10
She prayed with the whole of her heart and made her request known unto God.

In the midst of our trials our attitude should be talking to God and complaining and worrying over them. I had to learn this too sisters.
It may not be easy but scripture admonishes is to do so in Philp 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication let your request be made known unto God.
1Sam 1:11 says “And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look 👀 on the affliction of thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life and there shall no razor come upon his head.

She prayed with the whole of her heart and even made a vow unto God that if He grants her a man child, she will give him back to God.
And did God answer her?
Did her testimony come? Yes, it did
Her prayer birthed Samuel, which means Because I asked him of the LORD in 1Sam 1:20

What are you going through at the instance?
What are you asking of the Lord?
Have you any trials at the moment, Take it to the Lord in prayer.
You surely will have victory.

1). Never see your trials /oppositions as punishment from God. Rather beseech God to have understanding and light concerning that situation.

2). You can only hear from God if you have a personal and cordial relationship with Him. Draw closer to Him daily.

3). Always treat even your enemies with Love ❤️

May God grant us grace in Jesus Name
Amen 🙏

40 Days To Purpose | Day 12

In Jesus’ time of greatest need, two of his most trusted companions betrayed him.

  1. Judas
  2. Peter

Judas ended up hanging himself and died while Peter ended up becoming a pillar in the church of Jesus. 🤔Why such extremely different outcomes?
If we read very well, the answer is actually quite clear. It lies in the actions they each took after realizing they had fallen short

Peter’s action: Luke 22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

Judas’ action: Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Even though their responses both looked similar, there was actually a world of difference.

Peter wept, he repented, but somewhere in his heart he knew that there was hope. He believed that Jesus was indeed God and was able to forgive his sins. You see, Peter had faith.
Judas on the other hand never really believed that Jesus was the son or God, he did not believe He had the power to forgive sins. This was why he sold Jesus off in the first place. And when he realized they had killed Jesus, he felt there was no hope. Jesus was dead and gone to him, so he chose to commit suicide instead of bear his guilt forever.

The bible says, Godly sorrow (not any kind of sorrow) leads to repentance.

When you have done something wrong, and you suddenly realize it, do not just shrug it off and say it doesn’t matter. There is a place for genuinely feeling sorry for you sins and just coming to God to say you are sorry. He is your Father so you can safely pour out your heart to him, knowing that there is hope and forgiveness for you.
But when you do not ask for forgiveness, you give the devil a chance to bury you in a sea of guilt and shame. He begins to make you feel you are the worst and nothing good can come out of your life. He tells you that God will not even forgive you, that its too late
This is what Satan did to Judas. He lied to him.

When you try to pray with such guilty conscience, things won’t flow well. Your walk with God is automatically hindered.
All Christians must learn to be tender hearted. We must know that God loves us and is always willing to forgive us. We must run to him the moment we realize that we have fallen short. Lest we give the devil a chance.

May God teach of more of his abundant grace and mercy in Jesus name, Amen.

  1. Do you feel that God is somehow angry with you? In your secret place tomorrow, pour out your heart to God and ask him to forgive you of every known and unknown sins
  2. Pray for your family members, perhaps they are suffering some form of depression due to overloaded guilt and shame. Ask God to help them.

I love you all🤗. JESUS LOVES YOU MORE ♥️♥️♥️

40 Days To Purpose | Day 11

The scriptures record that 🤴 Ahab did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than many of those before him. But why was Ahab so evil😈?
Its because he had someone cheering him on his evil ways. Her name was Jezebel, the 👸Queen, a pagan woman who had had a particular hatred😡 for God’s people

From coming at Elijah with false prophets to disobeying God’s direct command to killing an innocent man, we see King Ahab continually do evil in God’s sight with the strong backing of his wife. Eventually, Ahab died☠️ in a terrible manner🐺 as God had said.

🧐Its high time you start pulling away from those people you usually go to for comfort and support when you know you want to do something that is not that straightforward.
They are the people that will not let you progress in destiny. Anytime they👀 see you trying to do something for God, they begin to act concerned. They remind you of how you need to consider your health🤒 and take it easy. They tell say you should just rest in order not to breakdown.
They may even be fellow church goers but they are not fervent in spirit. So when they see you coming up in the things of God, they tell you stories of people who were once fired up for God but are now cold. They tell say you won’t last. But don’t listen to them, its a lie of the devil.

Oh, Beware!!! May God open your eyes to recognize these people early and ready your heart for them. Anytime you find those kind of people in your life, just keep a safe distance. Don’t say you are trying to help them when you are just starting out and still need help yourself.

Most importantly, pray to God specifically that their coldness should not quench your fire

May God grant us wisdom in these things🙏.

  1. Keep your appointment with God tomorrow. You stay on fire by showing up even on days you feel weary
  2. Pray that even when many grow cold, you will still be hot for Jesus. Your oil will not dry up in Jesus name
  3. Obey, even when you don’t feel like it. Obedience adds wood to your fireplace so that your fire keep on burning even when the weather is cold. Obey the Great Commission.

40 Days To Purpose | Day 10

Today we take a look at two characters at a time. 👵🏾Naomi and Ruth👩🏻‍🦰.
Naomi (a Jew) lived in Moab with her two sons and their wives. So Ruth was Naomi’s daughter-in-law.
Along the line, Naomi’s two sons died. Note that neither of their wives had children.

🤔With the way mother-in-laws are given a bad rap, I wonder how come these two women loved their MIL so much that they actually wanted to follow her back to her home in Bethlehem.
I mean think about it🧐… these were young women. Lets assume they were still in their early twenties. They didn’t have children yet. Their husbands had died. They could have easily moved on. Maybe gone to pursue their dreams or remarry

What was so special about Naomi that they were so drawn to her to even consider leaving all they could be to follow this woman to a strange country where they didn’t know anybody?
Naomi must have shown them exceptional kindness and love
The love and kindness Naomi showed them was greater than every other love they had ever received. So they felt secure and protected with her. They knew that she had their best interest at heart no matter what.

Naomi could have easily accused these women of being evil witches who married her sons in order to chop all their money and then kill them.
But that was not the case. Naomi did not blame them in any way or make them feel responsible for the death of her sons. She grieved with them and made them feel safe with her.
Eventually, only Ruth followed Naomi to Bethlehem and we see Naomi’s great love and affection again. Naomi did everything to push Ruth into greatness and divine purpose. She could have left Ruth to fend for herself and find her way in life, but she didn’t. We see Naomi guiding Ruth on how to behave and how to secure an inheritance with God by marrying Boaz
Because of Naomi’s selflessness and Ruth’s humility, we see a depiction of God’s great love and acceptance of all people everywhere.

The love of Naomi made God more attractive to Ruth than the gods of the Moabites. Ruth even became the great grandmother of David making her an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
Today, anytime we read the story of Ruth, we are reminded of how God is interested in us despite our history or background and wants to give us a place in the lineage of Jesus. He wants to make us sons of God.

  1. It is in the place of personal devotion that God chisels your mindset and makes you understand how to live like Christ. Don’t miss your personal devotion tomorrow for anything
  2. Pray that the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) will begin to manifest in your life as your submit yourself to the making process
  3. Practise the fruits of the Spirit by obeying Jesus commandments. You don’t wake up one day with sudden perfection. You have to practise and work it out

I🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️ pray for an outpouring or grace over our lives that will cause us to live in obedience to the ways of God and by so doing we step fully into our divine purpose, in Jesus name. Amen

40 Days To Purpose | Day 9

The story of Esther is so popular. A slave girl becomes queen 👸in a foreign nation.
Soon Haman the antagonist sets his heart on manipulating the King to kill all the Israelites in the land.
Mordecai, Esther’s uncle heard of this and asks Esther to go to the King to appeal. However, Esther is not so willing to risk her head being cut off for going into the kings presence uninvited
Mordecai now says something heavy. He said, “What if you were made queen for such a time as this?”.
You see, Esther understood purpose. She knew that she was not just a biological result of a man and a woman’s sexual intercourse. She knew God knew her before she was even conceived in her mothers womb.
The same words Mordecai said to Esther that gave her sleepless nights, could have meant nothing to other people. Esther suddenly understood that if she failed to deliver on purpose, she would still die but she would die in regret.
So Esther made up her mind that she would rather die a hero than die a coward. At this point, she had to choose between God and her life and she chose God.
Eventually through divine strategy, Esther went to the King and the lives Israelites were saved.
What I specifically want to point out is the role that Mordecai played in helping Esther fulfil purpose.

What if there was no Mordecai?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
If you are set on fulfilling your divine purpose, you must surround yourself with destiny pushers. These are the people that will not let you rest. They will do everything to get you out of your comfort zone and ensure you deliver on your destiny.
I believe I am some people’s destiny pushers here.🙈🙈🙈

When you find a Destiny Pusher, don’t let them go. They may come in form of mentors or friends, but be sensitive to recognise them. You may not like the things they are telling you or how they are saying it. But if you are serious about being someone great for God then you must stay close to them.

I pray God open our eyes to see the Destiny Pushers he has sent to us and to not let them go, in Jesus name 🙏

  1. The Holy Spirit is the ultimate Destiny Pusher. As you spend time with him in your secret place, he will not let you rest until you deliver on purpose
  2. Pray that God should send people to you that will note you go until you answer your divine call

40 Days To Purpose | Day 8

One of the things God will first get rid of when he introduces you to purpose is the desire to be seen and known. God really hates it when people take glory that belongs to him.

It was the desire to be recognized, congratulated and worshipped that landed Satan where he is today. It was also that desire that ended Absalom’s life very shamefully.

Once you try to serve God with that desire for people to clap for you and make you a celebrity, the Holy Spirit pulls away immediately. In fact, if God loves you so much, he will strongly resist everything you try to do for him with this kind of motive in your heart. Things will not just work out.

That nature to be seen and boast about your accomplishments is a Satanic nature and God in his love will do everything necessary to purge you of it.

Absalom was so obsessed with how good, handsome and talented he was that he burnt a mans field, told his father to make him a judge and then eventually tried to overthrow David and become king. But where did all this end him? In death.

This is why I emphasize the need for first maintaining a personal altar. It is at your daily personal altar that God will break you and consecrate your heart for him alone. He will rid you from every desire for fame and personal glorification. After that, he will start allowing his glory to shine through you.

  1. Stick to your daily appointment with God. Be consistent and faithful.
  2. Preach the gospel. It has a way of keeping you humble. Your friends and colleagues will now know you are on God’s side.
  3. Pray that God should begin to search you and rid you of every desire for fame and self glorification so he can fully manifest himself to the world through you.

40 Days To Purpose | Day 7

Job is one of the most popular bible characters. We all know his story so I am not going to go over it again. We will just glean a much neglected lesson as regards fulfilling purpose in life from his life.

We all know how the 😈devil, with God’s permission, put Job to a very extreme test.

If you believe that God is alive and he has not changed and you also believe that Satan is alive and he has not changed, then you will agree with me that what happened to Job is still happening to people today.

I mean, there are people in certain situations simply because the devil went to God to take permission to show them pepper🌶️🌶️🌶️. Yes, even in this day and time.

I want you to look at your life and consider the most difficult situation you are passing through right now. 🤔🤔🤔Could it be that God boasted about you in heaven of how that you will still follow him no matter what life throws at you and then the devil took permission to test you with some trials?

Maybe right now, God is in heaven eagerly hoping that you will not give up. That you will stick to the path of righteousness. He has planned to bless you a 100 fold if only you will just endure for one more day.

Whenever you are passing through any challenge in life I want you to tell yourself, “It is just a test, it will pass”.

Because Job endured till the end, today, his story is still keeping people from losing faith and trust in God. Satan has failed to draw many into depression because they heard of a man called Job who bowed down to worship God at the news of disaster. A lot of people have not committed suicide simply because they heard the story of Job and their hearts were strengthened by it.

Do you know that as a child of God, your trials are not ordinary? God will first screen that trial to see if it is too much for you before he lets you pass through it. because God is in it. He never allows anything more than you can bear. 1 Corinthians 10:13

If you do not deviate from righteousness and truth, no matter what you go through it will always end in praise.

  1. Tomorrow is Sunday but you must still spend time with God. Jesus (not the church) is your Lord and Savior, the author and finisher of your faith.
  2. Determine to continue being fervent in spirit and passionate in serving God despite the Goliath you are facing.
  3. Pray that God should help you see the blessing in your current trial.

40 Days To Purpose | Day 6

Why did it take God 25 years to give Sarah a son? Was it that difficult for God to form Isaac? Why would He keep promising poor Sarah a child when she was obviously getting older and her womb getting dryer? Was God just trying to taunt her and hurt her feelings?

As these thoughts crossed my mind while studying about Sarah, something jumped out at me. God did not have to do anything more to create Isaac. All he had to do was make the promise.

You see, when God wanted to make the earth, all he had to do was speak. When God promised Abraham a child, he had played his part, that was all he had to do – to speak.

How do I know?

By faith, barren Sarah was able to become pregnant, old woman as she was at the time, because she believed the One who made a promise would do what he said. That’s how it happened that from one man’s dead and shriveled loins there are now people numbering into the millions.” Hebrews 11:11-12 MSG

Can you see why she became pregnant? It was because she finally believed what God promised. For 25 years, I guess she thought a power was suddenly going to come upon her and out of the blues she will find out that she was pregnant.

Although the scriptures never said how exactly she put her faith into action but I am sure she must have done something (received strength to conceive – KJV) in the other room with Abraham. Thus she birthed Gods purpose on earth.

Are you finding it difficult to believe and accept your perceived calling in life? I want to remind you that with God all things are possible.

The same God that turned miserable Moses into mighty Moses is still alive and changing men today. If you will just take that first step of faith to seek God, he will take over.

1. Do whatever it takes to keep your personal appointment with God tomorrow. Set your alarm. Don’t miss it for anything

2. Ask God to work through your weakness. Let him be your strength.

3. Start by preaching the gospel. That’s every Christian’s compulsory assignment. As you show faithfulness, God will commit more into your hands

40 Days To Purpose | Day 5

Nabal had only one divine task in life – to feed David and his men. Every other thing he did or would do in his life did not matter in heaven. How do I know? As soon as he failed in his assignment, God killed him because there was no need for him to remain on earth.

Before his encounter with David, the bible records that’s Nabal was churlish (mean-spirited) and evil. The only reason why God still kept him alive was because he had a divine call hanging over his head. That call was to provide for David and his men.

Have you ever woken up one morning and asked yourself, “Why Am I Here”?

The answer to that question is your purpose in life.

Abigail in her wisdom quickly took upon herself Nabal’s assignment and fed David. If she had not done that, she and all her household would have died along with Nabal.

Perhaps someone somewhere is has taken up your assignment and heaven is already counting down on your life? Maybe even your family and friends whose purpose are attached to yours will be going down with you because of your delay or denial?

Come, let me tell you something. The Lord alone has to open your eyes so that you can recognise those he has called you to save or help in life. Personality tests are man-made, they are of the flesh, they cannot produce the purpose of God. Ask Samuel!

1. Set your alarm. Make no excuses. Keep your personal daily appointment with God tomorrow

2. Start with what you know by preaching the gospel. This assignment is for all believers, you don’t have to fast and pray to realize this one, it’s clearly written in the Bible.

3. Ask God to open your eyes and begin to draw your heart towards those he has sent you to. Pray! Pray!! Pray!!!
