40 Days To Purpose | Day 16

The story of Samson as recorded in the book of Judges is a popular one. Essentially he was a very strong man. He was endued with divine strength.

Samson was also a Nazarite and a judge. He intensely hated the Philistines and often opposed them. 🤔I wonder how come he loved Philistine women. 🤸‍♀. The first recorded event of his life was even his marriage with a Philistine woman of Timnath. Judges 14:1-5

Later, the bible records that he fell in love with another Philistine woman 👩 named Delilah. Unknown to him, this woman was an agent sent by her people to find out the source of his great strength and to cut it off ✂️

Delilah tried a failed two times but eventually succeeded. She was able to cut off his hair and the Philistines came in and captured Samson. They even plucked out his two eyes. 👀

Then the Philistines organised a party to celebrate their victory and worship their god Dagon. They made fun of Samson, now a weak helpless man tied between two pillars. It seemed as though Samsons life was going to come to a miserable end until something happened. Samson remembered God.

Judges 16:28 records this:

28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord,(AM) “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge(AN) on the Philistines for my two eyes.”

And God actually heard him. His strength retured and he killed more Philistines in his death than he did when he was alive. Brethren, do you think your time has passed?
Do you think you started this journey too late?

Do you think you have misused the skills, talents and opportunities God gave you in life? I want to tell you that its not over for you.

That you are alive today means that God is still giving you a chance to say “Yes” to him. Its really not about what you think you can do. Its about what God can do through your perceived weakness.

Yes I know you could have lived a better life. But don’t wallow in that pool of self pity and regret. God is still in the business of adding years to people’s lives just as he did for Hezekiah, so they can accomplish his purpose.

God can still use you. Just say, “Yes”.

ACTIVATION | GETTING PRACTICAL WITH IT

1. In your quiet time tomorrow, pray and tell God that you are still available. Ask him what you can do for Him.

2. Begin to actively pay attention to the passions in your heart. It may be that God is leading you to specific group of people as your assignment

3. Start being faithful in the assignments that are clear e.g. preaching the gospel. God will see your faithfulness and comit more into your hands

I pray that every wasted year in our lives will be restored and we will be more useful as we grow older, in Jesus name, Amen.
